GMU Prof registers Vidyasagar Award

Professor and Head, School of Physics, Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur Dr. Susanta Kumar Das received the prestigious Vidyasagar (Iswar Chandra Memorial) Award at the 10th International Conference on Computing, Communication and Sensor Networks.

This was done by MTech and PhD from India’s leading institutes such as IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur. He has more than 18 years of teaching and research experience, including six years of postdoctoral experience at the Max Born Institute, Berlin, Germany, 6.5 years of experience at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, and 4.5 years of experience at NIST . Berhampur. He has published 87 SCOPUS-indexed articles in the field of ultrafast lasers, nonlinear optics and optoelectronic materials / devices. 66 of them are Web of Science-indexed. Prof. Das registered a patent for his innovation and published several book chapters with leading global publishers such as Springer and Wiley.

He has also worked as a reviewer for several of the world’s leading magazines and has organized a number of conferences, workshops and symposia. He has given numerous lectures in India, Germany and the USA. In addition, he has worked on the development of various inexpensive and robust instruments such as nanosecond lasers, picosecond lasers, UV and visible photocatalyst reactors, laser workstations, Covid-19 disinfection tunnel, Covid-19 UV disinfection cabinet, femtosecond pulse diagnosis systems, etc. He has various awards / financial support from several organizations / institutes such as the Optical Society of America (OSA); Science and Engineering Research Committee (SERB), Govt. from India; Science and Technology Department (DST), Govt. from India; Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Raja Rammana Center for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) Indore, IIT Delhi; IIT Kharagpur and National Research Development Corporation (NRDC). Its H index is 19 and the i-10 index is 25. It has more than 1300 citations from around the world.

He has supervised four PhD students and several M Tech, M. Sc and BTech projects. He is currently supervising six PhD students and has several completed / ongoing government-funded projects.
