Godrej & Boyce wins Rs 468 cr order to supply generators for the PHWR project

Godrej & Boyce has won a Rs 468 billion contract from India’s Nuclear Power Corporation to supply steam generators for a 700 MW Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) project. The company’s process equipment division will supply the generators for the indigenous project and is the division’s largest contract to date, Godrej & Boyce said in a statement.

Steam generators are critical devices in a nuclear power plant for producing clean (non-fossil) and reliable sources of energy for base load needs, the statement said. The generators are manufactured at the company’s location in Dahej, Gujarat.

The Indian PHWRs were developed at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) and a reactor is in operation in Kakrapar, Gujarat.

More Reactors are under construction in Kakrapar; Rawatbhata in Rajasthan and the village of Gorakhpur in Haryana.
