MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – July 8, 2021) Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said the construction of two new power plants at the Hungarian Paks Nuclear Power Plant (AKW) with the participation of the Russian nuclear company Rosatom should be completed in 2029.

Szijjarto said that some preparatory work has already started.

The Hungarian National Regulatory Authority has to make a decision on granting a building permit to Rosatom by October.

“We want construction to be completed as soon as possible, of course, but we also understand that building a nuclear power plant is a serious and difficult undertaking. So we are now focusing on 2029 – this period looks realistic, ”he said in an interview with Izvestiya newspaper.
