Jacobs secured the role of asset management for the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority

“We are using tactical delivery capabilities to support the NDA’s implementation of the asset management strategy,” said Jacobs Critical Mission Solutions International, senior vice president Clive White. “By leveraging our extensive domain experience and best practices, combined with our data-driven, digitally-enabled solutions, we will help the NDA drive improvements and achieve better results.”

The NDA is responsible for the decommissioning of 17 nuclear power plants England, Wales and ScotlandSome are from the 1940s. These include Sellafield Ltd, Europe The most complex nuclear power plant, the first generation of Magnox power plants, the British waste repository in Great Britain West Cumbria, the former research site for high-speed reactors in Dounreay in Scotland and other research and fuel facilities.

Jacobs and PA Consulting are already working with Sellafield Ltd to introduce a new approach to asset management by using digital decision-making tools to optimize the reliability and availability of critical assets such as utilities, cranes and batteries. To do this, sensors must be installed on the device in order to record data. A digital twin is then created that generates information to improve decision-making so that the devices can be managed more efficiently and cost-effectively.

“Our asset management approach integrates processes, organization, technology and information with a transition from predictive to condition-based maintenance of critical nuclear assets,” said Julianne Antrobus, head of nuclear at PA Consulting.
