Minister Kosarac: BiH is not giving up its position on preventing the construction of a nuclear waste storage facility

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Stasa Kosarac said yesterday that BiH is not giving up its position on preventing the construction of a nuclear waste storage facility in Trgovska Gora, Croatia, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He stated that he believed that the first working meeting of the BiH team of experts with colleagues in Croatia would be scheduled in the next 15 days.

He still believes that preserving the environment and the health of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the main concern and that “we should be mobilized much more than before because Croatia is fully mobilized”.

He added that he expected the full commitment of all BiH institutions to achieve the goal of preventing the construction of this nuclear waste facility.

Minister Kosarac noted that the expert team’s request for enlargement was judged to be acceptable, but this did not happen as certain ministers in the BiH Council of Ministers did not support the proposal as there were not enough members of one nation in the team’s structure.

He stressed that the national structure can be respected in the management of the coordinating body, the expert and the legal team, while only the competencies should be taken into account in the selection of the experts themselves.
