NRC Radio Broadcast 1 – Overview of the NRC’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement

This is the first of three NRC broadcasts of a proposal to dig up mine waste from the site of the former Northeast Church Rock Mine and place that waste in a repository for permanent disposal on an existing uranium mill impoundment at the nearby United Nuclear Mill site? ˅. This broadcast consists of two parts: The first part describes the history of the mine and mill sites and explains the role of the US Environmental Protection Agency in the rehabilitation of the mine site. The second part explains why the NRC is involved, describes the process of the NRC and gives some details on the design of the EIS.
