The main highlights of the event consisted of various industry interactions, webinars and the EDF supplier day through November and December 2021:
- Webinar on Indo-French synergy in the civil nuclear sector, organized in partnership with FICCI with the participation of Indian companies such as Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consulting Engineers, Avasarala Technologies, Walchandnagar Industries, Core Energy Systems, MTAR etc.
- Virtual B2B meetings between the Indian and French nuclear ecosystems.
- EDF Suppliers Day and Networking Event where EDF presented the Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant Project: Update, Business Opportunities and Localization Process for Key Players in India’s Nuclear Supply Chain. No less than 80 Indian companies attended the event, as did French companies with a total of more than 130 people online.
India growing nuclear ambition:
India is now the third largest CO2 emitter in the world and one of the top 10 historical emitters. The Indian government has set itself the goal of generating more than 50% of the country’s installed electricity capacity from non-fossil energy sources by 2030. In this favorable context, the nuclear sector offers numerous opportunities for cooperation with Indian industry. Till date, India has 23 nuclear reactors in operation, 10 nuclear reactors and 1 research reactor under development. Several other projects are also in advanced discussions. Among other things, negotiations are ongoing between EDF and NPCIL on the development and procurement of 6 EPRs at the Jaitapur, Maharashtra, India.
In April 2021, EDF to NPCIL. transmitted; to supply its French-commercial technical-commercial offering, engineering studies and equipment for 6 EPR units at the Jaitapur, Maharashtra location. This important milestone for EDF, its partners and the French nuclear industry allowed the talks with NPCIL to be accelerated with the aim of converging on a general framework agreement in the coming months.
The French nuclear sector – an important French industry
