NEWPORT NEWS, Va., April 14, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Mike Gilday, Chief of Naval Operations Adm., Visited the Newport News Shipbuilding Division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) today for information on all of the shipyard’s major programs receive. Recent investments in new facilities and advancements with integrated digital shipbuilding to improve operational efficiency.

Gilday visited the submarine construction complex to see modules and assemblies of the 12 Virginia-class submarines currently under construction. He also visited the facilities where the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) is under construction and the USS George Washington (CVN 73) in Newport News is conducting a final equipping and testing activity for the refueling and complex overhaul.
