Police seize record $5 million worth of ‘liquid ecstasy’ in Wellington | 1 NEWS

Two men were arrested in Wellington and $ 5 million worth of drugs were confiscated by police.

The arrests came after police issued seven search warrants across the city after a two-month investigation into the import and distribution of controlled drugs.

According to the police, a suspected import of Eutylon was found and about 400 liters of gamma-butyrolactone, known as GBL, were confiscated. It is the largest seizure of the anesthetic to date, police said.

The street drug – also known as G, Fantasy, or Liquid Ecstasy – usually comes in liquid form and is often mixed into a drink, according to the NZ Drug Foundation.

The drugs have a street value of over $ 5 million.

According to police, two Wellington men, aged 29 and 35, are due to appear in Wellington District Court tomorrow for importing a Class B controlled drug, importing a Class C controlled drug and possession for delivery are charged with a Class B controlled drug.

The police are also investigating items that could be used to make methamphetamine and are at one of the addresses.
