SNC-Lavalin and partners receive contract extension for DUF6 conversion project for the US Department of Energy

MONTREAL, December 20, 2021 / CNW Telbec / – SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) is pleased to announce that Atkins Nuclear Secured Holdings Corporation has been extended for 14 months in a joint venture (JV) partnership with Westinghouse Government Services and Fluor Federal Services of the conversion plants for depleted uranium hexafluoride (DUF6) in the Paducah gas diffusion plant of the US Department of Energy (DOE) in Kentucky and the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Ohio.

The Atkins-led JV will continue to provide services in support of the DUF6 project at a value of $ 153.5 million, which processes the US DOE inventory from depleted uranium hexafluoride to uranium oxides for disposal. The partners will manage and operate the two uranium conversion plants and manage the DUF6 inventory of over 60,000 cylinders (hazard category 3 and 2). The project processes the DUF6 inventory into the oxide form using established uranium conversion technologies.
