Syzygy Plasmonics wins top US company award in the International Clean Energy Competition

HOUSTON, November 4, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Syzygy Plasmonics won third place and was named best US company in the Clean Energy Pitch Start-Up Battle in Glasgow, Scotland, At November 2, 2021. the HoustonThe Berlin-based startup’s groundbreaking technology uses light to generate hydrogen energy and everyday chemicals at drastically lower costs and emissions.

“Syzygy Plasmonics is proud to have won a Grand Prize from the Net Zero Technology Center COP26 Pitch battle home Houston and The United States. We are equally honored to stand with our peers – climate technology companies working to solve the world’s immediate environmental challenges, “said Syzygy CEO Trevor Best who represented the company in competition.

The startups in the competition submitted three-minute pitch videos, which were then evaluated by a global audience vote and a jury of experts. Ten companies were selected as finalists, each with technology solutions that can help accelerate the transition to a net-zero energy industry.

Syzygy is at the convergence of the seemingly impossible with technology based on a breakthrough in physics, fueled by three decades of research Rice university. With the most stable and active photocatalyst in the world, Syzygy can produce clean, distributable hydrogen from various raw materials.

“We are actively working to scale Syzygy’s photon-catalyzed reactor and bring it to market. By using LED lights that run on renewable electricity instead of thermal reactors that run on fossil fuels, we can change the profitability of emission-free hydrogen production and make the energy transition possible for industries that are difficult to reduce, “said Best.

At the beginning of 2021, Syzygy a $ 23 million Series B fundraising round led by Hong Kong-based Horizons Ventures. Syzygy also received an SBIR grant from the National Science Foundation for the conversion of CO2 to methanol.
