TANDY LESTER ASBURY, 85, of Ingleside Texas passed away on Monday May 24th, 2021 in Kenedy Health and Rehabilitation, Kenedy, Texas.

He was born on April 16, 1936 in Charleston, WV to Maggie and Golden Asbury.

Tandy was a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, Texas. A husband, father, and pop-pop / popaw, he was a man of great faith and loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. He was loved by everyone and we will miss him very much.

He was the 1956 WV Golden Gloves Boxing Champion and had a professional fight until a car accident ended his career. He was a 50 year old Master Mason and achieved the rank of 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of Indian River Lodge # 90, Florida. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and the great outdoors. He had a great sense of humor, was a positive thinker, and no problem was too big to solve. As a Christian, he was merciful and would share everything he had with everyone.

Tandy was with Goodrich Gulf and FMC Corp. employed in WV. From 1964-1974 he was with Bendix Corp. hired and worked on the Saturn V launcher of the Apollo space program and Sky Lab I. In 1975 he began working in the construction industry for nuclear power plants in several states and Mexico. Before retiring, he worked at the South Texas Project, two nuclear power plants, and was a mechanical fluid systems engineer in the nuclear steam supply group.

His 57-year-old wife Mavis followed him in death; Sister Vonda Renning; and brother Paul Asbury.

Tandy leaves behind his three children, Jan (Tony) Piemontese from Berwick, PA, Tandy L. (Lisa) Asbury II from Fraziers Bottom, Ray G. (Tammy) Asbury from Ingleside, TX; Grandson, Lauren (Bryan) Robey from FL, Stephanie (Scott) Harley from PA, TL (Stacy) Asbury from VA, Erika (Stephen) Walker from Scott Depot, Miranda (Steven) Gaydosz from Culloden, Melissa Piemontese from TX, Jessica ( Blake) Mooney from TX, Ray Gregory (Chelsea) Asbury from TX, Katie Asbury from TX; 11 great-grandchildren; Sister, Larue (John) White of FL; Sister-in-law, Delores Asbury of FL; Brother-in-law, Carl (Cledith) Beard of Cross Lanes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

On Wednesday, June 9th, from 11am to 12pm, there will be a tour of the Funeral Home basement in Dunbar. A procession will officiate at noon for a funeral service in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar, with Minister Stephen Walker.

The Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, takes care of the arrangements.
