Zhangzhou nuclear power plant with Hualong One reactor

China National Nuclear Corporation’s (CNNC) power generator in Zhangzhou, southeast China’s Fujian Province, which uses China’s self-developed Hualong One nuclear reactor, completed its dome installation on Wednesday, according to CNNC’s official WeChat account, and the generator is entering its internal construction phase .

CNNC said the installation of the dome of the nuclear power plant is a milestone in the entire construction process of the Zhangzhou nuclear power plant. The dome will play an essential role in isolating the nuclear radiation generated in the reactor.

Each Hualong One nuclear reactor can generate up to 10 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year, which can meet the electricity needs of a million households. Once commissioned, the reactor could replace 3.12 million tons of coal consumption and 8.16 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
