The Egyptian Minister for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, announced the start of production of the first heavy equipment for Russia’s Dabaa nuclear power plant next month.

Start of construction for the first block The El Dabaa project will be completed in the second half of 2020, the first block of the nuclear power plant is scheduled to go into operation in 2026.
The minister added: “We are currently seeing positive progress in the implementation of the El-Dabaa plant as the Egyptian-Russian team has been able to provide the documents and documents required to obtain the building permit for the first and second blocks of the plant. , To the nuclear and radiation regulatory authority at the end of June last year.
In the same context, the website quoted sources from the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, saying that the head of the Russian company “Rosatom”, the company responsible for the construction of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant, visited Egypt in the middle of the year to visit the site of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant in Matrouh governorate.
The sources said that during the visit he saw Dr. Muhammad Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, invited to attend the ceremony for the manufacture of the first parts of the nuclear power plant, which will take place in Russia next month.
In September last year, the spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energies, Ayman Hamza, announced that the Dabaa nuclear power plant had received all regulatory approvals and that the reactor construction would start operating as planned in the second half of 2020.
The first nuclear power plant in the history of Egypt will consist of four power plants with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts. It will operate Russia’s advanced third generation VVER-1200 nuclear reactors, which meet the highest safety standards.
