With the acquisition of Kontak, Hydrofuel receives patented technology for releasing hydrogen-ammonia fuel and energy stations

Ammonia (NH3) molecules contain one part nitrogen and three parts hydrogen. NH3 is an extremely promising environmentally friendly fuel source because it contains absolutely no carbon, contains 1.5 times more hydrogen than liquid hydrogen (H2), and can significantly reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.

By storing hydrogen in ammonia, the weight of the fuel is reduced when consuming hydrogen, making it perfect for commuter, eVTOL, drone and regular air travel of up to 5,000 km as well as for ship, transport, agricultural and industrial flights suitable is engine and power generation used.

Kontak’s patented reactor is the most effective method of releasing hydrogen to date. The hydrogen is filtered and fed directly to a fuel cell or an internal combustion engine. The technology was developed under a National Science Foundation Grant. The hydrogen release module is USPTO # 10,207,241B2 and patent pending in several countries.

Kontak has also filed patents for an inexpensive combined hydrogen, ammonia and battery power station technology that can store up to three times as much energy as conventional systems.

Late 1981, CEO of Hydrofuel, Greg Vezina, drove across an ammonia-powered Chevrolet Impala Canada, Arriving on Parliament Hill on November 5th for a press conference with the then Governor General Ed Schreyer and energy minister Marc Lalonde.

Hydrofuel also announced that it has made a private placement offer from $ 5 million US.

CEO of Hydro Fuel Greg Vezina commented, “$ 3 million Proceeds from the offering will be used to develop, commercialize and license the Kontak technologies. The rest $ 2 million Balance will be used for commercialization of Hydrofuel’s proprietary ammonia (NH3) energy and fuel generation, storage and utilization technologies, including for converting diesel and gasoline engines, generators and combined cooling, heating and power generation (CHP) systems, to use multi-fuels including ammonia and hydrogen, for the acquisition of other licensed technologies and for general working capital and corporate purposes ”

Ontario Tech Professor Ibrahim Dincer and Hydrofuel have been working together since 2014. Their previous results of NH3 energy research “New Evidence for Greener Energy Solutions” show that green ammonia is the best alternative to fossil fuels in a wide range of applications and is even better than most other renewable energies in several parameters.

Earlier in 2021, Hydrofuel and Ontario Tech signed an agreement with an exclusive option to sponsor research projects and negotiate commercial rights to a specialized portfolio of ammonia-related technologies at Ontario Tech that include, but are not limited to:

  • Ammonia power and heat engine
  • Ammonia as a sustainable fuel and hydrogen production
  • Ammonia fuel cells
  • Conversion systems for diesel and gasoline engines Solar ammonia synthesis
  • Electrochemical synthesis of ammonia
  • Hydrocarbon-ammonia synthesis without emission of carbon or CO2
  • Waste heat engine and waste water to ammonia
  • Plastic to ammonia
  • Direct binding of CO2 in elemental carbon

A three-part project “Sectoral Use of Ammonia as a Clean Solution” is currently in full swing, which includes the development and experimental testing of an ammonia-powered electricity generator, the study of the ammonia economy from production to its final use in various sectors, and finally a review of the Ammonia economy with a cradle-to-grave pollution and emissions approach.

Hydrofuel previously announced a three year commercial demonstration project Toronto based TFX International Auto Transport to convert diesel generators and transport trucks with Hydrofuel’s aftermarket technology to run on multiple fuels, including ammonia.

Hydrofuel will announce several additional acquisition, option, license and collaboration agreements for the ammonia energy technology Canada, the United States of America and overseas in the coming weeks and months, with commercial sales expected to begin in 24 months.
