A worker at the under-construction Rooppur nuclear power plant died as an electric panel fell on his chest while he was working in the furnace on Thursday night.
The deceased is Anwar Hossain, 30, from Moslempur village of Bahirchar union under Bheramara upazila in Kushtia. He was working as a laborer in Scheme Company, a contractor of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project.

Ruhul Quddus, site in-charge of the project, told New Age that an electric panel fell on Anwar’s chest while he was working at about 10:30pm on Thursday.
‘He was rushed to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor declared him dead,’ he added.
Ishwardi police station officer-in-charge Arvind Sarkar said, ‘The body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital for autopsy on Friday morning.’
An unnatural death case was filed with Ishwardi police station in this regard.
